You can ensure a long life for your sweater by dry cleaning it and gently removing pills. Pills form when individual wool fibers rub against each other and are felt into small balls on the fabric's surface. It's a natural and inevitable occurrence and doesn't indicate any defect. Remove pills with your fingers or a commercial de-pilling device.
